Universal memory module for deactivation of the hill start assistent system / auto hold

Many modern vehicles are factory-fitted with a hill start assistent system aka auto hold system. This function is activated by default in most vehicles and must be deactivated by pressing a button one or more times. This procedure must be repeated each time the engine is started.

Many of our customers only want to use the hill start assistent system when needed and have asked us if we can offer a solution for this as well.

Functionality

The original button for controlling the hill start assistent system will be upgraded with a memory function. The memory module remembers the operating mode you want and automatically restores it each time the ignition is switched on. While driving, you can switch back and forth between activated hill start assistent / auto hold and deactivated hill start assistent / auto hold as often as you like.

After switching on the ignition, the module waits about 6 seconds until the saved state is executed (trigger signal or do nothing). Within 60 seconds the module is in learning mode. The saved state can now be changed by pressing the button. Several button presses can also be programmed if the hill start assistent system in your vehicle is deactivated by pressing the button twice, for example.

This gives you the following options:

  1. Switch on automatic (necessary in delivery status)
    • switch on ignition -> wait 6 seconds
    • press the required button (several times if necessary) within 60 seconds to deactivate the hill start assistent system
  2. Switch hill start assistent on/off independently of the module
    • switch on the ignition -> within 6 seconds -> saved button presses are executed
    • wait another 60 seconds -> all button presses that occur now are not saved by the module

Installation

The memory module is based on microchip design with SMD manufacturing technology. In result it is tiny and you can hide it behind your cars dashboard without any difficulty.

Please note: The installation work is not plug and play. Anyhow anyone with a bit of craftsmanship should be able to install the memory module. Installation steps are as follows.

  1. removal of the switchrow / switchelement with the activation/deactivation control button
  2. measurement of the correct cable connection (signal line, ignition plus, ground)
  3. assembly of the memory module
  4. reassembly of the switchrow / switchelement with the activation/deactivation control button

Compatibility

The module is compatible with every vehicle in which the hill start assistent system is controlled from the button using a ground or current pulse.

We differentiate between the PLUS and MINUS variants, both of which are mastered by the module.
PLUS variant: no voltage on the signal line when the button is not pressed / voltage on the signal line while the button is pressed
MINUS variant: Voltage on the signal line when the button is not pressed / no voltage on the signal line while the button is pressed.

In principle, regardless of whether it is a PLUS or MINUS variant, the pulse must be at least 2V. This means that with the MINUS variant, there must be at least 2V on the signal line when the button is not pressed so that the button press (drop to 0V) is reliably recognized by the module. Conversely, with the PLUS variant, there must be at least 2V on the signal line when the button is pressed. If this is not the case, our module is unfortunately not compatible.

The module is not compatible with vehicles in which the signal is transmitted via CANBUS or LINBUS. The module is also not compatible with vehicles in which the signals for different functions/control units are transmitted via the same signal line using current pulses of different voltages. So if, for example, hill start assistant and lane keeping system are controlled via the same signal line.

Made in Germany!

The memory module is designed and manufactured by a German company. All German quality standards are observed.
